Bridal Jewels...

Posted on

I was very excited to be part of the Park Hyatt  'Unveiled' Bridal Champagne Afternoon Tea held last Sunday at the Park Hyatt of course. I presented to a room full of lovely brides the latest trends for Bridal jewels…

Our brides firstly watched a Bridal Fashion Catwalk with stunning gowns from Helen Rodrigues Bridal and jewellery by myself.  So here are my thoughts on what to wear on the big day …

Firstly I'm a firm believer that you must be as comfortable as possible on your wedding day. Fidgeting with your veil or wearing too tight shoes - just don't go there!  This is the day you want to feel as beautiful and comfortable as you can.

There are some lovely traditions you can incorporate with your jewellery choices. There is the very sweet tradition of 'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.... ' some ideas for the something blue - if there is one in the family maybe your Mum's or Grandma have a blue Sapphire Ring. Our model wore a London Blue Cocktail Ring.

Pearls (which you can also borrow) are a soft and feminine choice of jewels to wear. Our model wore lovely 11mm Perle of June Earrings… big enough to be noticed but not over powering the dress (Jenny Packham) which had beaded detail. You could also borrow your mums/grandmothers pearls and wrap them around your wrist if you want to make more of a fashion statement - this also looks very pretty with a vintage style dress.

A trend we have experienced from our American customers... is to wear your husband-to-be initial as a bracelet or necklace, recently we made a diamond B for a bride.  Our model here wore 3D Monogram Diamond C Necklace and a Perle of June Necklace layered together.

Brides are moving away from strictly traditional looks and incorporating fashion trends and their style, to reflect who they are and what they most feel comfortable and beautiful in.  The trend of layering and stacking, mixing golds is now firmly translated into the bridal space.

Our bride wears a layering of fine diamond rings, including Entwine Ring Rose Gold, Hello Dot Ring, Rose Gold Infini Rings with Perle of June Ring. And rose gold (don't start me that's another blog post) ... is a lovely choice of gold as it is such a pretty and soft gold to wear.

The dress you choose is the focal point, it will pretty much determine everything else from hair to jewels to veil etc. And the neckline of your dress will determine what if any jewels you wear on your neck. Our model wears Rose Gold Horseshoe Necklace, layered Hello Dot Ring, Rose Gold Infini Rings with Perle of June Ring, and earrings Xanadu Diamond Drops in Rose Gold.

Another trend we have noticed is wearing an investment peice, a Diamond tennis bracelet or Diamond Hoops something that you will keep and treasure for years.

One question I am always asked is can you wear earrings, necklace, bracelets and rings.... My answer ... if that's your style, if that's you - then yes yes yes! If you rarely wear any jewelry then keep it minimal. Essentially you want to follow your personal style but just enhance it for the day.
